Nike LeBron X “Crown Jewel”

Release Date: 9/22/12

Fresh off a gold medal run in the London Olympics, the colorway that jump-started the launch of the Nike LeBron X campaign drew inspiration from the Crown Jewels of England. The LeBron X “Crown Jewel” boasts an upper draped in a purplish-red tone similar to red wine, while grey colors the shoelaces, inner lining and speckled mid-sole. The shoe is highlighted by vivid Fireberry, which is seen on the outsole, Nike Swoosh outline and on the Dynamic Flywire. The Nike LeBron 10 “Crown Jewel” also features the Royal Crown and Sceptre graphic on the medial heel triangle. Nike got very creative with the packaging, as these shoes came in a red chiseled case with the “LJ” logo on top of the box. The unique story behind the of the LeBron 10 “Crown Jewel” stems from the tale of the Great Star of Africa Diamond, a gift given to the King of England. This stone once held the rank as the world’s largest diamond until 1985 when the rock split into nine pieces. The two largest parts of the diamond were kept by the royal family and mounted within the head of the Sceptre with the Cross and Imperial State Crown. These two items are known as the “Crown Jewels” of the United Kingdom.
