Exactly 20 years ago today, one of the best drafts in NBA league history took place at Madison Square Garden. Names like Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon instantly changed the basketball fortune for their respective teams, but the class of ’84 would also change sneakers forever. Although Sam Bowie didn’t pan out in the hoops or footwear categories, fellow draftees such as MJ and Charles Barkley would create some of the best signature lines of all time. Top pick Hakeem Olajuwon would make waves for Etonic, Spalding, LA Gear and his own personal brand, while John Stockton and others would later make memorable contributions to the league’s style encyclopedia. See the three heavy hitters in their rookie season sneakers below, and record your 1984 NBA Draft memories on its anniversary in the response section underneath.
