Nice Kicks: Has being in the military helped or hurt your ability to cop the shoes you want?
SPC Pollard: With steady income and a network of brother and sisters always willing to help out with purchases all over the world, being in the army has helped me in a big way.

Nice Kicks: What is the favorite shoe in your collection?
SPC Pollard: My Cristiano Ronaldo (Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Fg) “Safari” cleats.

Nice Kicks: Do you notice a different in kicks worn in the various places you have been stationed, visited, or people you come in contact with being in the military?
SPC Pollard: There is a big difference in the different places I’ve been. In Germany, it’s low profile kicks, such as Air max and Jordan 3 and 4. In the south, we love polo boots and Jordans. Here in the DMV, it’s “Foam” city. Everyone wears heat, so it’s hard to stand out unless you have some overseas exclusives.

Nice Kicks: What shoe would you consider your grail or a shoe you regret missing out on?
SPC Pollard: Nike Air Yeezy 2 is the biggest regret I have. Not having those has made me consider spending more than anyone should.

Nice Kicks: What is the craziest thing you have done for a pair of kicks?
SPC Pollard: I paid $400 for a pair of soccer cleats, and had them shipped to Germany. A week before they got there I broke my ankle playing soccer. So instead of sending them back I kept them to look at as motivation.
