Name: SGT Michael Roach
Branch: United States Army
Years in Service: 5
Originally From: Dover, DE
Current Station: Patrick Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany

Nice Kicks: What five shoes are in your current rotation?
SGT Roach: Since I am deployed in Afghanistan, they are my Belleville Boots, Adidas Boost Energy running shoes, Nike SB Dunk Low Nike “Kuwahara,” LeBron IV (White/Navy-Gold), and the Air Jordan Hydro Slide.

Nice Kicks: What is your favorite shoe or model of all time?
SGT Roach: Air Jordan 3 “True Blue.”

Nice Kicks: How many shoes do you currently own?
SGT Roach: Roughly 120+

Nice Kicks: Do you notice a difference in kicks worn in the various places you have been stationed, visited, or people you come in contact with being in the military?
SGT Roach: Most definetly! Overseas you find people are mostly into trainers and unorthodox sneakers. Sometimes I’ll wear shoes out and the language barrier disappears when I walk by people. I have had the opportunity to meet many great people because of sneakers. It’s a universal culture shared by the masses everywhere.

Nice Kicks: What shoe would you consider your grail?
SGT Roach: My grail would have to be the Air Jordan 3 “Doernbecher.” I want those more than anything, but they have been eluding me for quite some time (Sz 11 or 11.5).
