Nice Kicks: Earlier, you said that you would wear the Grant Hill signatures now, but wearing them in your prime was like a sin. What other FILAs were you wearing off-court at the time?

Jerry Stackhouse: I wore all of it, man. The FILA Classics were great. I wore those all the times. I was in the middle of a boot craze at the time, so I wore a lot of the FILA boots with the gum bottom as well. After the games, I tried to give my feet a break from my sneakers, so I stayed in those FILA boots.

Nice Kicks: Let’s talk about the present. What else can we expect to see from FILA in regards to your signatures?

I’m a Yankees fan, and we’ve talked about doing a Stack in grey and blue with little hints to let you know it’s a Yankees-inspired shoe. I’m also a Redskins fan, so you might see a Stack in burgundy and yellow. The guys over at FILA have some incredible stuff coming and they know me, so you’ll see some great stuff. They have some incredible UNC stuff that’s about to drop, so look out for that.

Nice Kicks: After all of these years, why did you decide to come back?

Jerry Stackhouse: I always wanted to go out the same way I came in. I wanted to wear the same shoe at the end of my career that I wore at the beginning of my career. I’ve always kept a good relationship with the people over at FILA. Even when they got away from basketball for a little bit, I still would talk to the people from time to time. So, when they approached me about possibly doing something with the brand and bringing the basketball side of things back, I just thought it made perfect sense. I’m joining FILA to help the brand have a place in the market again. I want to get it in people’s thought process again, whether it’s basketball or just style. I’m just ready to get the FILA brand pumping in the USA again.
