It’s safe to say that the Duke Men’s Basketball program during the 1980s, was widely viewed as a perennial power that ultimately came up short whenever it mattered. Now, while plenty of North Carolina residents are enviously approaching the comments section, hear me out.
First off, the Duke Blue Devils had to reach the Final Four eight times before winning their first title and were runner-ups in four NCAA tournaments until their first title in ’91. Nonetheless, while those facts may sting Dukies, the years to follow would further ascend the Blue Devils’ status, as their stellar play in some of the most iconic adidas silhouettes is a part of ACC lore.
