Nice Kicks: How many pairs of shoes do you currently own?
Edward Lewis: I’m currently at 176 pairs.

Nice Kicks: What’s your favorite shoe or model of all time?
Edward Lewis: The ’88 Nike Air Stab. Hands down.

Nice Kicks: What do you attribute your love of sneakers to?
Edward Lewis: The art and design behind sneakers has always fascinated me. I used to sketch them and add my own ideas to them. Plus, watching my uncle collect helped plant the seed.
Nice Kicks: What sneaker would you consider your grail or a shoe you regret missing out on?
Edward Lewis: My grail is the Nike Air Pressure from 1989. From concept to packaging, that shoe made me want to be a shoe designer. It was only made for one year, so finding a good pair is almost impossible.

Nice Kicks: What is the craziest thing you have done for a pair of kicks?
Edward Lewis: When I was in high school I didn’t have a lot of money, and my friend Tim O’Neil worked at a shoe store. I bought Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” on “layaway” from him. It took me 2 months to fully pay for them. I helped people with homework, recycled cans and bottles, the whole nine just to get those.
