The last time the Air Jordan 3 “Cool Grey” released, the San Antonio Spurs were on their way to win another championship during their monumental 2006-07 run. Since then, sneakerheads have been waiting for a retro of this classic colorway/sneaker combination. Luckily, recent teases hint of the sneaker’s return in 2021.
Michael Jordan’s third signature sneaker will return in a similar fashion to the 2007 release. The construction of the upper on this Jordan 3 is made up of grey nubuck, surrounded by hits of the classic elephant print on the toe box and heel. Additionally, the midsole and outsole are dressed in the same grey and white, respectively. However, the tongue and heel will feature a red Jumpman logo. Along with the accents of yellow, the sneaker hopes to combine previous elements with a new sense of vibrancy.
The “Cool Grey” Air Jordan 3 added to the growing legacy of Cool Grey retro Jordans. In the beginning, we saw Cool Grey Jordans just come in the classic color and white with not additional colors. The Air Jordan 4 Cool Grey was the first to step away from a purely greyscale of tones with a small touch of yellow, but the Cool Grey Jordan 3 really added more color and vibrance. Out of the 2007 retro colorways, the Cool Grey Jordan 3 stood out the most and its return has been very well received by Jordanheads young and old.
After an initial release date of January 30 was postponed, the Air Jordan 3 “Cool Grey” is now set to release on February 20, 2021, at a retail price of $190. Stay up to date on all upcoming sneakers including Jordans releasing in 2021 with Nice Kicks.
