Miami-based streetwear label Stray Rats has been a close collaborator with New Balance over the past couple of years. For their latest partnership, the Stray Rats x New Balance 991 connects vibrant shades of lavender with shadowy undertones. This sneaker is being released alongside a similar brown pair.
This New Balance 991 release takes influence from the Stray Rats’ signature use of eccentric colors, by pairing a strong neutrals with unexpected highlights. The upper features nubuck overlays with reflective details, complete with co-branded elements, and “Stray” branding on the forefoot. The color choices are a nod to vintage robots and mech figures. You can see this with the black and grey combo, finished with electric lavender details.
