Salehe Bembury continues to thrive. Following his ANTA collaboration, Salehe announced his departure from Versace and launched his own brand — Spunge. Not too long after, Bembury teased his upcoming New Balance project.

The second rendition of the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 2002R follows its predecessor with a nature ethos as the teaser was captioned with “Water.” A light blue and green combination line up on the premium runner, taking inspiration from Salehe’s recent trip to Havasu Falls. As such, a mixture of warm and cold hues take shape on the sneaker. Other details include a hairy suede and mesh construction, all above a 860v2 sole unit.

“This collaboration was born from a few inspiring conversations with the New Balance team-initially during a meeting with Joe Grondin in Paris over Fashion Week. Given the New Balance heritage I was familiar with, I expected color iterations of 990’s, 574’s etc., however the models that Joe pulled out of his bag were extremely unexpected. What was revealed were knit uppers with proprietary cushioning technology, innovative upper executions like the recently released Snow Peak sneaker, and new silhouettes like the JadenSmith’sVision Racer. My interest peaked and the rest is history.”
