“You can do anything, but not everything.” –David Allen

It’s not the Bruce Lee quote of the day, but it’s been ringing in my head for hours. From taking on too many projects to attempting to integrate too many things into a single concept, design students often fall into this trap. We think we can, “Do a little bit of everything.” But like our Jordan training concepts, it’s better to focus on doing several things really well than to do a hundred things poorly. My particular concept requires a lot of forefoot cushioning since that’s where the foot lands and launches from when backpedaling. I’ve had to learn (and am still learning!) to focus on just a few elements and let the overall design flow from those.

From classmates to magazine photographers, someone is always taking pictures here. Life is a little clearer for Jared now since he got new specs over the weekend! We expect a massive increase in facial recognition from this boy moving forward…

Don’t get caught up in the excess!

-Beth Steenwyk
