For most of my first days of school, I would usually don the classic, white-on-white Air Force 1s simply because they would go with pretty much anything. Occasionally, I would switch from the low tops to mid tops for a cleaner and classier look. My family wasn’t the wealthiest of families so even buying those $70-$85 shoes was a stretch, so that meant Air Jordans were out of the question. Yet, one summer, after saving up birthday money and work money, I was able to purchase my first pair of Jordans with my own money. It was the beautiful but often forgotten “Black Cat” Air Jordan 3; the patent leather mudguard, the pure black nubuck and those elephant print laces! The first day of school was amazing. Everyone kept asking me where I got my Jordans from, and some even asked me if they could borrow them. I loved that feeling. The “Black Cat” 3 was the shoe that catapulted me into collecting sneakers.
