More than a decade ago, in 2008, Jordan Brand rolled out its now famous “Maybe I Destroyed The Game” ad. It was one where Michael Jordan narrated his struggles to achieve greatness, discussing what many thought he was born with yet he’d clarify he worked for.
The ad became an endearing ode to perseverance and one that propelled the Air Jordan XX3.
The ad first fueled an upcoming Air Jordan 1 Mid and now has moved onto more modern creations — like the Jordan Proto React.
Here, inspiration is taken directly from the ad which features blue bleachers and select imagery from North Carolina’s men’s basketball locker room.
This plays out through the ripstop nylon blue upper of the shoe. Moreover, a “Maybe I Destroyed the Game” theme tongue drives home the reference.
A first look at the Jordan Proto React can be seen in greater detail below. The shoe is expected to drop this April.
