What’s In Their Wardrobe? // Jordan Clarkson

After being traded from the Lakers, Jordan Clarkson is center stage in his first NBA Finals appearance. Despite showing significant talent on the court with a promising career ahead of him, it’s not his basketball abilities that have us talking – it’s his wardrobe selection. As jaw-dropping as it is eclectic, we thought it’d be most appropriate to kick off the start of the NBA Finals with one of the league’s rising talent proteges, who also happens to be crushing it off the court.

While many of the players off the court have a more consistent look, Jordan Clarkson is trying to track down something that’s different. And even though he has a variety of looks, he owns every one of them. Yes, Clarkson wears many of the same brands as the others in the league, but what’s so unique about his style is the emphasis he places on making it different while complimenting the overall theme that he has in mind.

Grunge Is A Glorious Summer Style Hack

Grunge is a glorious summer style hack that Jordan Clarkson has down to a tee. But taking that idea one step further, he’s also got the summer rockstar look dialed. His wardrobe would have any of us believe he could’ve been the latest member of the Rolling Stones, featuring a heavy rotation of Saint Laurent essentials (guitar not included). While NBA arena tunnels saturate our Instagram feeds, Clarkson’s appearances are hard to miss, as he makes a compelling case for followers to file that look away for inspiration and pencil it in the next time they don’t know what to wear.

One of the unique hacks Clarkson has to make black and white tones stand out is by ensuring a uniform look that’s literally head to toe. How can the most basic hues be so appealing? Try hacking off the bottoms of your skinny jeans just a couple of inches so they hover over your Old Skools. Then tuck in your vintage graphic heavy tee into your jeans with a varsity layered over. Good luck not turning a few heads. While he clearly has an affinity for all-black get-ups consisting of ripped black skinny jeans and Vans Old Skools, he can go just as hard in the opposite direction and break out the latest OFF-WHITE Nikes and Jordan 1s, while pairing them with oversized denim jackets and cropped jeans.

The only bit of contrast you'll need this summer is a denim jacket.

Wild’n

Jordan Clarkson is one of the first names that comes to mind when you think of who’s style is wild’n. While his wardrobe can be totally simple and sophisticated, he also isn’t afraid to go out on a limb to ensure his fit gets noticed. Some of the ways Clarkson is able to stand out in this regard are wearing bright and vivid colors that pack a punch. He’s certainly not afraid to make loud pink varsity jackets his statement piece, while he makes everything else he’s wearing more toned down (like Vans Sk8-His, white tee and stonewashed jeans).

Sometimes he’s even wearing the flashiest colors or even tan fur coats that go down to his knees. And while he certainly is in the early years of his career, he certainly isn’t afraid to take risks off the court. Another characteristic about Clarkson is that he wears A LOT of camo patterns. It could be a basic Supreme hoodie or even a tiger camo rain jacket – all while ensuring that he doesn’t blend in with the rest of the competition.

Making It Believable You Grew Up In The ’90s

Jordan Clarkson might barely be old enough to remember the ’90s, but you’d think by some of the clothing articles he wears, it would look like the ’90s were his prime. How does he accomplish this youthful swag? By wearing a lot of Gucci and understanding that exaggerated fits like baggy sweats and oversized jackets are in. You’d almost swear he was saved by the bell.

Even though the ’90s inspiration is on a major rise, Clarkson ensures his style is going to stand out amongst the rest by creating a stark contrast in the looks that he puts together. That might be pairing a pastel yellow hoodie with an oversized puffer jacket and baggy sweats, not only shaking up the color pairings, but also the overall fit. The Gucci Ace is a timeless silhouette that Clarkson also pairs with this combination and is so timeless in fact that it looks like it could’ve blended right in with the ’90s.
