Virgil Abloh Creates Custom Nike Zoom Fly to Honor Eliud Kipchoge’s Berlin Marathon Finish

Earlier this year when Nike introduced its Breaking2 campaign, which found purpose in marathon runners finishing the 26.2 mile trek in under two hours, it was largely thrust upon the shoulders of Eliud Kipchoge. This past weekend Kipchoge participated in the Berlin Marathon, and he received a special gift from Nike collaborator and Off-White founder, Virgil Abloh, upon completion.

The Nike Zoom Fly, one of “The Ten” in the designer’s highly touted collaborative collection, was customized by Abloh for Kipchoge. Unfortunately Eliud didn’t quite break two this race, yet finished the marathon at an insanely impressive 2:03:32 mark.

Abloh, as he’s made famous this year, wrote Kipchoge’s time on the midsole in quotations to celebrate the triumphant marathon finish. And although his finish time wasn’t record-breaking, it did manage to secure yet another race victory for Kipchoge.

@kipchogeeliud “??” #berlinmarathon winning time 2:03:32
