Around this time last year, Vans launched a nationwide shoe customization contest dubbed the Vans Custom Culture. In an attempt to reach out to the young generation of sneaker enthusiasts and potential designers, Vans encouraged high school art classes across the country to register and participate in this contest. We have now learned Vans will be bringing the Custom Culture contest back in a bigger way.
This year, Vans has opened the contest to up to 1000 schools nationally, therefore, many more kids can take part. Also, Vans is increasing their grant for the winning school to $50,000 towards their art program. Lastly, Vans is taking the top five schools to New York City for a museum show late this spring.
