According to reports, Christian Gomez, 19, of Union City, NJ, wanted a pair of the “Solar Red” Nike LeBron 8 V2 Lows, but felt the asking price of $800 was a little too high and proceeded to rob another man of the shoes.

On October 18, Gomez and his victim met in Union City. The victim thought the purpose for the meet-up was to sell the shoes for $800. That is when Christian Gomez is alleged to have punched the victim in the chest and steal the highly coveted kicks.

Gomez appeared today in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link from the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny. Judge Margaret Marley set his bail at $25,000 cash or bond.

Gomez has two prior arrests in New Jersey, and five prior arrests in Florida, according to court officials.

Long story, short. Sometimes, they’re just shoes.
