To commemorate Joel Embiid’s memorable No.3 overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers during NBA Draft Night, Under Armour is releasing a special edition colorway of Joel Embiid’s signature shoe dubbed the UA Embiid One “Draft Night.”
The basketball sneaker marks the latest colorway of Embiid’s signature silhouette and comes dressed in a predominantly white outfit embellished with contrasting hits of yellow, pink, blue, and green, which represents the vibrant combination of colors shown during a “Please Stand By” broadcast screen. The reason being for Embiid’s late reaction to being selected, which showcased the basketball superstar looking stoic. The reason behind the now viral reaction was due to a delay during the broadcast. Rounding out the final details on the sneaker is an iconic No. 3, representing Joel’s selection.
“Many people thought I was upset with the draft results because of the broadcast delay, but I was super excited! This new colorway is inspired by that Draft Night and the funny long-lasting meme that came out of it,” shared Embiid.
Look for the UA Embiid One “Draft Night” to release in North America, via UA.com, UA Brand Houses, Finish Line, Champs Sports, Hibbett Sports, and Eastbay on December 18. The pair will retail for $120.
