Obviously, Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, found himself at the center of brand battle between Jordan Brand and Adidas last year (see our Top 9 Sneaker Stories of ’09). Although the University of Central Florida was an Adidas-sponsored school, Marcus Jordan ultimately wore stayed loyal to his dad’s brand and wore Air Jordans on the court. Adidas terminated its contract with UCF; however we have just learned that UCF has just signed a contract with Nike. It is funny how things turn out some times, right?

In detail, UCF and Nike agreed upon a five-year contract in which Nike will provide shoes and apparel for all sports at the university. “We had explored a number of different options with a number of different manufacturers and equipment providers and ultimately we have reached an agreement with Nike,” said David Chambers, UCF executive associate athletic director.

UCF’s deal with adidas ends June 30, and the newly-developed Nike pact officially begins July 1. Click here to share your thoughts on this new agreement.
