Cultural Impact of He Got Game

It’s obvious that the cultural impact of He Got Game is vast and seemingly grows the further away we get from its initial theatrical release. With the jersey of Jesus Shuttlesworth being made available at retailers and an iteration of an Air Jordan silhouette being coined as well, plenty can surely attribute the sneaker influence to the cult-like following.

Even multi-billion dollar corporations such as the NBA have referenced the film, as back in 2013 during a contest between the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat, nicknames were donned on every uniform spotted. With Ray Allen playing for the Miami Heat at the time, “Shuttlesworth” would be sported across his nameplate and the “He Got Game” Air Jordan 13s would be rocked on his feet.

With the Class of ’97 Pack being made available this weekend it is easy to see why this duo is so important because it further entrenches the iconic status of the popular film. Although its steep price tag may scare plenty, the sneakers themselves may be worth it.
