Once upon a time, a Jordan 11 retro release didn’t cause trending topics, multiple blog posts, release reminders, and mall mayhem. Well, to be fair, most of those things didn’t exists in 2001 when the Air Jordan 11 released in several drop top makeups, but none-the-less, the Air Jordan 11 Low was nothing to write home about in the summer of ’01. One of 4 color ways made for men, and one of the most slept on, was the first Jordan shoe to feature a faux reptile upper. The “Snakeskin” Air Jordan 11 low released May 26, 2001, but by September or October, the shoes could be found at many outlets selling for well below the $115 box price. While the Air Jordan 11 has never had an issue winning a popularity contest, the patent low top and low I.E. versions have never seen the same love.

Fast forward a decade, 2011 is a very different climate and arena for sneakers and it couldn’t be more clear of how much things have changed as when droves of NBA fans and sneaker enthusiasts dropped their jaws at the sight of the shoes being worn on the feet of Gilbert Arenas earlier this week.

With ten years to let the Air Jordan 11 low marinate how do you feel about the silhouette? If the shoes were to return would they be a purchase or a pass? Take a look at some shots below and let us know how you feel about this one in the comment section.
