Although Michael Jordan paved the way for sneakers to be a foundational element in sports memorabilia, it’s crazy to think that Nike SB Dunks are starting to culminate their own appreciation. To celebrate 20 years of Nike SB, Sotheby’s curated a collection of commemorative Dunks for the Sotheby’s “Nike SB | 20 Years” Celebration auction.

This is Sotheby’s first ever auction dedicated to Nike Skateboarding, and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. While the Nike SB Dunks have always been an icon in the sneaker community, the resurgence of the silhouette over the past couple of years has been unstoppable. With new classics like the Grateful Dead x Nike SB Dunk Low and the Ben & Jerry’s x Nike SB Dunk Low “Chunky Dunky,” the Nike SB Dunk legacy is only growing.

Sotheby’s brings together some of the most sought-after Nike SB Dunks that defined a generation and told the stories of its surrounding culture. From Jeff Staple’s groundbreaking “Pigeon” SB Dunk to the practically unseen “Paris” SB Dunk, Sotheby’s “Nike SB | 20 Years” auction offers the rarest of the rare.

Sotheby’s is especially excited to feature the Nike SB Dunk High Pro “FLOM” that comes with a signed box and skateboard. This lot is estimated to sell for upwards of $90,000 being that only 24 exist in the world. In the past, Sotheby’s had already sold a pair of these sneakers for a record-breaking $63,000. Each pair was made by Futura and features the “For Love or Money” acronym “FLOM,” on the shoe and deck.

Although the “FLOM” pair set the bar, Sotheby’s expects the “Paris” Dunk to sell for the highest bid, anywhere between $76,541 to $95,677. Other notable items include the Concepts x Nike SB Dunk “Yellow Lobster,” the “Freddy Krueger” SB Dunk, the Supreme “Black Cement” SB Dunk, and the Nike SB Dunk Low “London.” The auction also features some lowkey classics such as the Nike SB Blazer Premium “Milk Carton” and the Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski Michael Lau “10th Gardener.”

The Sotheby’s “Nike SB | 20 Years” Celebration is open now, with bidding ending on April 25, 2022. Visit the Sotheby’s website to take a full look at the auction, but catch a glimpse below. For more sneaker news and updates, follow @NiceKicks on Instagram.
