Nike LeBron 9 vs. Air Jordan 9
The LeBron 9 was another design from Jason Petrie. Geared toward pushing the limits of performance, this shoe was the first to include the combination of Max Air, Zoom Air, Flywire and Hyperfuse. Despite this development, the LeBron 9 enjoyed widespread popularity and was released in numerous colorways, which speaks to Petrie’s ability to craft a model that is both functional and fashionable. Tasked with having to alleviate the athlete’s foot woes Jordan experienced with the 8, Hatfield took a different route, designing a less complicated silhouette that unfortunately would never get a chance to grace the hardwood due to Jordan’s impromptu retirement decision.
