Converse Chuck Taylor

Yesterday, we previewed the highly-detailed collaboration between sak by Japanese designer Ryusaka Hiruma on the infamous Chuck Taylor. We now have detailed photos and additional information regarding the instant classic joint effort.

Japanese designer Ryusaka Hiruma has been pursuing age-old Italian craftsmanship in Florence, Italy for some time now and wanted to pair its history with Converse’s rich tradition. ?I wanted to bring together the history of Florence and Converse?s legacy,? says Ryusaku Hiruma, designer and founder of sak.

Hiruma chose to replicate some of Converse’s infamous silhouettes such as the Jack Purcell, the One Star and the Chuck Taylor. The latter model is featured here in black/tan and off-white/tan. Both colorways are comprise of old-world construction techniques, namely supple leathers that were hand-stitched from upper and rand to insole. Other distinctive attributes include hand-stitched leather rands/toe bumpers and the hand-cut star cutouts seen at the ends the shoes’ leather laces. Various Converse branding appears throughout the base and on the sole. Both pairs are now available at select global retailers (Opening Ceremony and Concepts in the USA) for $600-$700 in sizes 7-11. What are your thoughts on the sak x Converse Chuck Taylors. Click here to share your thoughts and find out where both colorways will be available in the US.
