In effort to celebrate artists around the world for their unique and authentic visions comes the Vans Old Skool OTW Gallery. For this edition, Vans taps freelance graphic designer, Ruben Martinho.
Based in London, Martinho is known for his lo-fi art that incorporates a mix of digital and analog themes. Inspired by 90’s rave posters and sci-fi alike, Martinho’s art feels like the future frozen in time. The way he captures elements from decades both new and old, makes his work a multi-dimensional presentation of graphic design. His signature purple and red color scheme can be seen here on the Vans Old Skool, with black suede as the sneaker’s base. The lateral side features a split checkered strobe pattern, while the medial side has a print of an eyeball with a graphic gaze. A purple top stripe wraps around the sneaker and matches the two-tone design of the midsole, which is split between a purple stripe and red polka dots.
