Signed to the Roc but sans sneaker deal, Kanye’s early days on stage and on the mic saw him wear a plethora of brands. Retro offerings from Nike, Reebok, adidas and Vans all received wear, with the Air Jordan 7 “Raptor” getting shine on stage and in video during his promo run for The College Dropout. Much like today’s upstart artists, a young Ye earned his stripes by opening for other artists, including Usher and Talib Kweli, and building buzz overseas. While his sophomore effort Late Registration saw its own arena tour, photos and footwear still prove hard to spot.
