The CNCPTS x ASICS Gel Lyte V is truly a special collaboration. In fact, the phoenix-inspired sneaker almost didn’t release after an unfortunate series of events. We caught up with the CNCPTS crew to learn how the collab came to fruition, and to team up with them to offer you a shot at winning a pair.
Nice Kicks: How did this new collaboration with ASICS come about and can you shed some light on the process?
Concepts: We started on this project over a year ago after working on the Gel Lyte III “3 Lies.” After multiple rounds of sampling, the shoes were ready for production. We had an unforeseen circumstance with the factories in Vietnam being set on fire due to the protests with China. We were originally told that all production was burned and lost, but we were actually able to salvage an amount to release. True story.
Nice Kicks: What was the inspiration behind the design?
Concepts: The inspiration of the shoe is based on the story of the Phoenix.
Nice Kicks: CNCPTS has a storied history when it comes to sneaker collabs. How do you see this pair fitting in with the lineage and continuing the CNCPTS tradition and aesthetic?
Concepts: Everything in design has a larger story and picture. Inspirations are pulled from everywhere, whether it’s an actual story, a design theme, music, art or even personal experience. We find a way to present them to our customers in a certain way that is different from others.

1. ELIGIBILITY: This giveaway is open to legal permanent residents of the fifty (50) United States and District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older at time of entry. Employees of Nice Kicks, LLC, Nice Kicks Retail, LLC, Concepts, The Tannery Shop, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies (collectively “the Sponsors”) and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate.
Participation in this giveaway constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the promotion. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
2. HOW TO ENTER: The giveaway will commence when the post is published via NiceKicks.com on July 29, 2014 on or about 2PM CST, and end at 12PM CST on August 1, 2014 (the “Entry Period”). One winner will be selected starting August 1, 2014 and notified within five (5) days of selection through the Instagram mobile application, e-mail address, or other eligible form of electronic communication in the sole discretion of the Sponsors. 3. WINNERS SELECTION: If a potential winner declines to accept the prize, cannot verify their eligibility or has violated any of these Official Rules, they will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected, at Sponsors’ discretion and if time permits, in his/her place from the remaining entries. Only one (1) alternate entrant will be selected, after which the prize will remain un-awarded. The name of a winner can be requested at anytime by contacting info@nicekicks.com.
All potential winners are subject to verification by the Sponsor, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters related to the promotion. An entrant is not a winner of any prize, even if the results should so indicate, unless and until entrant’s eligibility and compliance with the Official Rules have been verified and entrant has been notified that verification is complete. Sponsors will not accept screen shots or other evidence in lieu of their validation process.
4. PRIZES/APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE: One winner will receive a pair of Concepts x ASICS Gel Lyte V athletic shoes. Prizes are limited to one (1) per household. Approximate retail value is $150 US Dollars.
The Sponsors in their sole discretion will determine any prize details not specified above. Prizes are not transferable and must be accepted as awarded. No cash or other substitution may be made, except by the Sponsors, who reserve the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal or greater value if the prize is not available for any reason as solely determined by the Sponsors. The winner is responsible for any and all other costs and expenses not listed above. Prizes will be reported as income to a winner and the winner is responsible for taxes, if any, associated with the receipt of a prize.
5. GENERAL: This giveaway is subject to all federal, state and local laws/regulations and is void where prohibited by law. In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the giveaway is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, computer virus, or other technical problem, the Sponsors may, solely within their discretion, either: (a) cancel or terminate the giveaway; (b) suspend the giveaway to address the impairment and then resume the giveaway in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; or (c) award the prize according to the entry rules from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment.
