Creativity is often lost in sneaker culture when overconsumption is at play. There are so many sneaker releases year round that real thought and unique stories sometimes get overlooked for, well, commerce. But Reebok’s latest Shaq Attaq does both exceptionally well, and oddly references another brand in the process.

The “Dream Team Snub” acts as a reference point to O’Neal being overlooked for the 1992 Dream Team in lieu of former Dukie Christian Laettner. Thus, the shoe takes on a patriotic red, white and blue coating that is joined by hints of royal and purple to focus on Laettner’s shoe at the time — the Nike Air Flight Huarache. To close, Shaq’s logo at the heel at scratched out, signaling his aforementioned snub.

The Reebok Shaq Attaq “Dream Team Snub” is available now at select shops like SNS.
