After being teased for months, PUMA has officially unveiled the PUMA MB.01, LaMelo Ball’s first signature sneaker with the brand and PUMA’s first signature performance basketball sneaker since relaunching in 2018.
The PUMA MB.01 was co-designed by LaMelo, using his personal style such as the flames shooting down from the ankle collar that lines up with his rocket tattoo on his ankle. “I joined PUMA because they let me be me. I wanted to work with a brand that allowed me to be authentic, incorporating my ideas while also giving me the opportunity to show off my personal style,” said LaMelo.
The launch colorway comes in a tonal red, with limited black accenting throughout. Mesh makes up the upper for breathability and TPU overlays are utilized in high wear areas for durability. The PUMA Formstrip is seen on the lateral side of the toe with LaMelo’s 1 of 1 motto seen on the tongue tag along with his signature logo. Melo and PUMA co-branding is seen on the heel stripe and 3 X’s are overlaid on the lateral midsole. Lastly, a red translucent outsole finishes off the sneaker with RARE featured on the sole of the forefoot.
