PENSOLE Footwear Design Academy keeps creating, with their latest move set to crown a “World Sneaker Champion” through a competition held in New York City. The Portland-based academic institution is a unique educational outlet that was founded by former Jordan Brand designer D’Wayne Edwards to teach students the entire footwear design process and provide the industry with a farm system for the next generation. Now for the first time, PENSOLE is taking their talents out east to conduct a four-week intensive master class to find the world’s best sneaker designer. 21 hand-picked hopefuls from around the world will compete for the title and the chance to have his or her design sold at retail.
The championships will take place in NYC at Parsons, one of the most prestigious design schools on the planet, from May 27th to June 20th. To apply for an invitation, submit an original footwear design sketched by hand to PENSOLE by March 30th if you are at least 18 with a year a college under your belt.
