Boston-based Bodega’s Jay Gordon has teamed up with Nike and Pendleton to design two new versions of the iconic Air Mowabb. Dubbed the Pendleton x NikeiD Air Mowabb, the cross-trainer comes in two colorways – “Sunset” and “Arctic.”
Gordon is a big fan of the Air Mowabb and has been collecting them for years now. And since he is a noted collector and lover of the silhouette, Gordon has designed two different versions of the Air Mowabb that feature distinct Pendleton fabric throughout the upper. Each version also sports a speckled heel and black outsoles. Also, each pair of sneakers is numbered 1-100 in the on the side in signature ACG style.
“I started collecting sneakers in high school and would take the bus to New York to get shoes that I couldn’t get in Boston. That’s where I first saw ACG. I loved it instantly. ACG colorways and the whole vibe of it was my style,” Gordon told Nike via a press release. “The first time I saw someone wearing the Mowabb I thought ‘those are awesome.’ It was one of the first ACG shoes that I got. I was with a friend at a store on 17th street. He was like, ‘Why are you getting that? It’s crazy?’”
The “Sunset” version of the Pendleton x NikeiD Air Mowabb was only available at ComplexCon 2017. The “Arctic” version is only available in-store at Bodega in Boston. Despite these limited releases, nike.com will have customizable options for the Pendleton x NikeiD Air Mowabb from Nov. 9 until Nov. 14.
