Continuing with its lauded A-ZX series, adidas had tapped Berlin-based retailer Overkill for a collaborative ZX 8500. Representing “O” the forthcoming Overkill x adidas ZX 8500 “Overkill” fuses the iconic ZX 8000 and ZX 9000 into a new hybrid silhouette.
The collaborative model sports a vibrant outfit boasting neon pink, purple, orange, light blue, and hi-vis yellow, inspired by the palette of Montana Gold graffiti cans, throughout its mix-material upper. The mudguards sport a neutral grey hue to represent the concrete sidewalks and slab construction of tristesse in Overkill’s Berlin home.
Elsewhere a hybrid logo of Overkill Quote and “Flammable” warning is featured the heel and lace tags, a stitched “Overkill” on the toe box, an “OK” tag on the heel cage as well as an adidas logo crossed by the Overkill Quote on the respective tongues helps to add to this collaborative pair. Final details include the 3M elements as a nod to Berlin’s Chrome Bomber history and a neon green Torsion bar on the outsole.
Additionally, the pair arrives with a shoe shroud to protect the sneaker from paint drips while the wearer is out graffiti painting. The shoe is accompanied by a small T-shirt capsule designed alongside Berlin’s 1UP graffiti crew.
The Overkill x adidas ZX 8500 “Overkill” will release on April 9 via adidas.com and Overkill’s online store. The shoes will retail for €140 EUR (approx. $165 USD).
