NYFW: Highlighting Designer Collaborations with Major Sneaker Brands

Collaboration is a wonderful thing. Sure, in the realms of sneakers and hip-hop it can feel like a tired sales tactic, but at its origin it’s all about bringing two worlds together to create a piece of art or perspective that could not be achieved individually.

In the midst of New York Fashion Week, it’s apparent that many designers are not only inspired sneakers, but have become household names in our community via their collaborative work with sportswear companies. Today, we highlight by footwear brand some of the companies, houses and creatives that have teamed up for sneaker releases.

In the last few years, adidas has established itself as a leader in the fashion x footwear collab game. From the playful work of Jeremy Scott to the edgy updates from Rick Owens, the Three Stripes cover a lot of ground on the runway. Longtime partner Y-3 along with capsule creators Opening Ceremony and Mark McNairy all offer something different, while Kanye West looks to join Raf Simons and othersĀ on the brand’s release resume later this year.
