Although the Tokyo Summer Olympics were delayed due to COVID-19, looks like brands are going all out for the event and Nike has announced a partnership with four iconic designers for an apparel collection for the Olympics.

The collections are inspired by sport, from Yoon Ahn of AMBUSH, Jun Takahashi of UNDERCOVER, Chitose Abe of sacai, and Virgil Abloh of Off-White. Each collection takes on a different expression and inspiration of style and sport.

The Nike x Off-White collection blends futuristic interpretation and art for the performance apparel collection for the spectator, focusing more on the spectator as the inspiration merging practicality with sports performance. The collection is set to drop on July 23rd.

Jun Takahashi’s UNDERCOVER uses basketball as the cornerstone of his collection, by bringing old-school basketball apparel and sneakers and uses Japan’s streetball culture as inspiration. Takahashi plays off of the NBA with his own UNDERCOVER Basketball Association and uses it on warm-ups, shorts, and jerseys in the collaborative collection. The collection is set to release on July 28th.

Yoon Ahn uses Japan’s motorcycle subculture and community as the inspiration for merging fashion and sport for the collection. Using bright pinks and neon greens to pay homage to Tokyo’s bright lights, the collection is futuristically fashionable as they are functional. The collection is set to drop on July 30th.

Chitose Abe uses the beauty of motion as inspiration for the Nike x sacai collection in which she splices and layers different performance garments and materials together. The collection is set to drop on August 4th.
