Nike Basketball and Sabrina Ionescu are officially moving into the next chapter of one of the game’s most respected signature lines with the debut of the Nike Sabrina 4.
After building a strong foundation with the Sabrina 1, 2, and 3, each grounded in “hardwood classics” and a handcrafted feel, the Sabrina 4 signals a shift while refining that foundation.
“This one is about leveling up,” Nike Senior PLM of Women’s Basketball Footwear, Emma Woodruff tells Nice Kicks. “We didn’t want to zig just to do something different. Sabrina’s built something people now know and love, so this was about pushing it forward in a really intentional way.”
From Trilogy to Evolution
The first three Sabrina models were designed as a cohesive trilogy, focused on consistency, feel, and performance. With the Sabrina 4, Nike had the freedom to evolve.
That evolution mirrors Sabrina Ionescu herself.
“Every year, I work on my game, finding areas to improve,” Sabrina says. “That’s exactly what we’re doing with the shoe—innovating in the right places while keeping that Sabrina feel.”
Woodruff echoed that philosophy, pointing to a “1% better every day” mindset that guided development.
“When you’ve already made three really strong shoes, the challenge becomes: how do you get better without changing things just for the sake of it?”
Performance First: Traction, Cushion, and the New FlyPlate
At its core, the Sabrina 4 stays true to what hoopers have come to expect: elite traction, responsive cushioning, and lockdown fit.
Traction Built for Guards
Traction remains one of Sabrina’s biggest priorities—and it shows.
The Sabrina 4 introduces a concentric “S” traction pattern, a nod to her initials that also delivers multidirectional grip for quick cuts and stops.
“She cares a lot about traction,” Woodruff says. “She wants any shifty guard to be able to stop on a dime.”
The outsole also features updated messaging, shifting from “anyone, anywhere” to “everyone, everywhere”—a continuation of Sabrina’s mission to make the game more inclusive.
Cushlon 3.0 + Zoom Air Return
Nike explored introducing a new foam, but ultimately stuck with what worked.
The Sabrina 4 retains:
- Cushlon 3.0 midsole
- Forefoot Zoom Air unit
Why? Because wear testing backed it up.
“It was tried and true,” Woodruff explains. “Testers responded to it the best, and Sabrina trusted it.”
Introducing the TPU FlyPlate
The biggest performance upgrade comes via a new TPU FlyPlate, designed to enhance responsiveness and stability.
Inspired by the explosive feel of a sprinter launching off the blocks, the FlyPlate:
- Adds snap and propulsion
- Reinforces the midsole for durability
- Improves lateral stability
“You’re getting that familiar Sabrina feel,” Woodruff says, “but the FlyPlate really levels it up.”
Lockdown, Fit, and Upper Construction
The Sabrina 4 continues to refine its fit system with subtle but meaningful upgrades.
Key details include:
- Lightweight engineered mesh upper
- Midfoot webbing system for glove-like lockdown
- Stitched bands for reinforced containment
- Compression-molded vamp for added comfort in the forefoot
- Perforated tongue for breathability and reduced weight
Nike also maintained the exact specifications Sabrina has obsessed over since Day 1.
“We’ve literally sat on the floor measuring collar height on her leg,” Woodruff says. “That level of detail matters to her.”
A More Modern Look—Without Losing Identity
Visually, the Sabrina 4 pushes the line forward while staying grounded in its DNA.
“This one should feel more modern,” Woodruff explains. “But not so far that it doesn’t feel like Sabrina anymore.”
New and returning design elements include:
- Haptic print upper that transitions from “S” to “I,” referencing Sabrina’s initials and heritage
- Breaking Barriers vertical Swoosh, symbolizing her impact on the game
- Lowercase “i” heel logo, a signature detail across the line
- Mirrored Swooshes, encouraging athletes to see themselves in the shoe
The haptic print also serves a performance purpose, replacing heavier embroidery with a lighter, more flexible solution while adding durability.

Sabrina Ionescu officially unveiled the Sabrina 4 on April 8 during her Asia tour with Nike Basketball.
The Nike Sabrina 4 ($135) and apparel collection is set to release in July 2026 via Nike.com and select retailers.
