During the 1997 NBA Playoffs when the Los Angles Lakers faced off against the Utah Jazz, Kobe Bryant had his famous “airball game.” We all watched and witnessed, as did a young DeMar DeRozan back in his hometown of Compton.

The game schooled the Raptors All-Star in the art of dealing with adversity and resilience. His latest Nike Kobe A.D. “DeRozan” PE is inspired by his earliest memory of Kobe Bryant and the lessons he learned throughout that game.

Odes to that day, May 12, 1997, can be seen on the shoe’s lace tips. From there, a picture of the street that DeRozan grew up on in Compton marks the sockliner. Grab a closer look at the shoe below and expect the release on April 12 via SNKRS.
