In addition to the Medal Stand kits for the Tokyo Summer Olympics, Nike has unveiled the uniforms for the Women’s USA Basketball Team which takes design elements from the 1996 team.
The women’s jersey comes dressed in red with navy accenting on the neckline and the side paneling, with the wavy design element on the collar from the ’96 USA jerseys. The 12 stars on the side paneling on the jersey and shorts represent the 12 members of the roster. Above the jock tag is gold detailing with “Games of the XXXII Olympiad” in script with “USA” in a classically blocked typography. The shorts feature a hidden detail that reveals the number of players that played for the U.S.A. women’s squad (84), the number of international appearances (10) and the number of gold medals won (8).
