Nike Adds the Air Max 97 to Its “M. Frank Rudy” Collection

Beaverton mainstay Nike continues to pay homage to the legendary Marion Franklin Rudy aka Frank Rudy, the aerospace engineer who created Nike’s Air technology and forever changed the footwear business. Along with the Air Max 90 SE and Air Max Plus, the sportswear giant will also be dropping an Air Max 97 dedicated to Rudy.

The special edition Nike Air Max 97 “M. Frank Rudy” features a clean white mesh base elevated with white leather overlays. Special details include the blueprint insoles showing off the technology with Rudy’s signature, along with his iconic California “Nike Air” license plate as hangtags. Lastly, “EST 1998” verbiage is printed on the Air unit. Rounding out the final design cues is a white midsole and yellow semi-translucent outsole.
