An essential in sneaker culture, the Nike Air Force 1 has been one of Nike’s best selling models ever. The bulky, former performance basketball silhouette has been used in countless collaborations, made in endless colorways, and produced in different materials. However, it hasn’t received a model construction update in years. This all changes with the new Nike Air Force 1 React. First seen last month, this second model will release in a “White/Light Smoke Grey/University Gold” colorway.
Since the Nike Air Force 1 was first featured on basketball courts, they have only used Air-Sole technology. Long overdue, the Nike Air Force 1 React replaces this cushioning system with React foam. Best known for its lightweight, plush, and responsive qualities, it has quickly become one of Nike’s signature running cushioning technologies. However, it has gained traction for its casual wear ability through sneakers like the Nike Element React series. Finally, Nike has placed React into one of their best-selling sneakers, giving it a substantially more comfortable everyday ride.
While the sneaker maintains the profile of its OG counterpart, specific design features distinguish it from the original model. Such features include a new mesh mid-panel, an oversized grey Swoosh, and raised grey midsole-lines. Finished with an icy blue midsole and yellow tongue, this sneaker is perfect for everyday, streetwear use.
The Nike Air Force 1 React will release through select retailers and the Nike SNKRS App within the coming weeks. It will retail for $120. Let us know what you think of this sneaker in the comments.
