Where to buy The Nike 1971

Nike Football has revolutionized the soccer/football industry and synthetic uppers are the standard for most footballers today. That wasn’t always the case, as the Swoosh originally stepped on the pitch in 1971 with “The Nike” football boot, and Nike has tapped the archives and is to re-release the boot in its original form dubbed the Nike 1971.

The Nike 1971 was a complete failure upon release, the boot couldn’t withstand inclement and wet conditions and was pulled from the shelves. Lesson learned from the Swoosh as they’ve learned from their failures and Nike Football owns a majority of the market share in football boots.

The boot stays true to the original design and comes in a simple black and white colorway, with black leather used on the base of the upper and the Swoosh and heeltab seen in white. The 1970 Mexico World Cup graphic is seen on the tongue tag and insole, as well as on the white soleplate which features 13 conical studs. The Nike 1971 comes with a horseshoe keychain, a pre-distressed box, and an insert that goes over the details of the boot.

The Nike 1971 is set to drop on Nike.com and at select Nike Football retailers for $240. Check out the official photos below, and let us know if you’re willing to step on the pitch with these on.
