Madison Square Garden was the site of many of Michael Jordan’s greatest moments. Something about those bright MSG lights caused him to do special things. On the first game of the 1986-87 season, Michael Jordan returned from a foot injury the season prior to score 50 on the Knicks. That was a sign of things to come for both New York fans and the league, as Jordan would go on to score 40 or more points in 16 of the first 27 games of the season and average a career high 37.1 points per game that year.
