It truly pains me to recap Dirk Nowitzki’s MVP award because of the season in question. Fresh off of achieving a franchise record of 60-plus wins, the 2006-2007 Dallas Mavericks seemed poised to recapture the Western Conference and make another trip to the NBA Finals. That’s until they ran into the Golden State Warriors. In a matchup that would witness the Warriors domination, the Mavericks would make an early exit and Dirk would be forced to celebrate his award from the confines of the press conference room within the American Airlines Center. Although his season would end early, Dirk’s stellar campaign will still remain in NBA lore as he sported a variety of Nike Basketball silhouettes during the year, such as the Nike Air Force 25.
