In honor of the Little League, the MLB is celebrating by hosting “Player’s Weekend” as of August 25th where players don their nicknames on their Little League-inspired jerseys.
Chicago Cubs’ third baseman, Kris Bryant, will don his newest set of custom adidas Energy Boost Icon 3s as a tribute to this roots and current home, but most importantly the Wings for Life Foundation.
The spinal cord injury (SCI) research organization has a special place in the reigning National League MVP’s heart. Cory Hahn, a former All-American high school baseball player and close friend of Bryant, was paralyzed while sliding into 2nd base as a freshman at Arizona State University.
Each pair of cleats tells a different story customized by different artists.
Friday’s pair is inspired by Bryant’s hometown of Las Vegas. Sentrock incorporates playing cards into the cleats, along with gold that capitulate the flashiness that is Vegas. The pair definitely captures the eye, but isn’t too loud which goes well with Bryant’s style.
Saturday’s pair is inspired by Bryant’s legacy at the University of San Diego when he played and made a name for himself. JC Rivera added touches of Bryant’s days with the Toros, but dedicated the majority of the upper to his Cubbies.
Last but not least, Sunday is all about The Windy City. Sansing implements Bryant’s style and the energy he’s brought to the city with his pair. The blue gradient emphasizes the lift in momentum once Bryant is up to bat, or makes a pretty significant play.
