With so much to celebrate, adidas honors Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with the limited-edition adidas Forum “Evolution of Excellence” Collection. The commemorative sneaker pack celebrates the basketball legend’s scoring legacy, championship career, and advocacy for social justice.
Showing off the collection, Kareem wore the adidas Forum Legacy sneaker from the collection and a custom Jeff Hamilton-designed jacket as he passed the torch to LeBron James for surpassing his all-time scoring record, with James hitting 38,388 points.
The collection features three unique designs that represent significant aspects of Kareem’s life and career. The blue-and-gold adidas Forum Alpha is inspired by Kareem’s remarkable 88-2 college career which included three consecutive championships. The purple-and-gold adidas Forum Accolades represent Kareem’s time in Los Angeles when the Showtime Lakers dominated the city. Meanwhile, the adidas Forum Legacy honors Kareem’s life commitment to fighting for racial equality and social justice in an all-black and copper colorway.
The Evolution of Excellence embodies the symbolic passing of the torch to the next generation. Whether that’s in the game, through the continued fight for social justice, or building a legacy through leading by example – I’m still pushing myself to excel today and I hope this collection inspires my fans to do the same.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Honoring Kareem’s iconic jersey number, only 33 pairs have been produced in each design. The entire “Evolution of Excellence” collection is exclusively available in size 16 and will be signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself. The sneakers will be on display at the Crypto Arena for every Lakers home game throughout the month of February and will be raffled off for charity.
