In July 2021, Jordan Brand partnered with 13 year old Jordan Carranza through the Make-A-Wish foundation to provide him with an opportunity of a lifetime. Carranza, who was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, had a wish to design a sneaker that broke down barriers. That sneaker was the Air Jordan 1 FlyEase.

Carranza’s vision for a sneaker was portrayed through an initial sketch of the Air Jordan 1 to Jordan brand designers. As seen below, he had an eye-catching blue and white colorway in mind, sprinkled with special design elements that were inspired by moments of his life. A modified handicapped logo found on the lateral heel reflects Carranza’s overwhelming perseverance to make his dreams come true.

“What inspired me to make this shoe is that Nike has always been my favorite brand, and I have always  wanted to make a shoe. The reason I made a handicap style is that it shows me that just because you’re  disabled doesn’t mean that your dream can’t come true,” said Carranza.

Upon hearing Carranza’s story, Jordan Brand decided to provide him with an opportunity only given to professional athletes: a special PE watch. Jordan Carranza’s PE Watch will be released via Instagram Stories and Twitter come November 18 at 10:30am ET.

The Jordan Carranza x Air Jordan 1 Flyease PE will not be releasing to the public, but instead will be a special creation just for him.
