Before his celebrated New York Fashion Week presentation this weekend, John Elliott did something similar to a proven tactic in hip hop. He put out a teaser image filled with sartorial goodness and even a sneaker debut, a move akin to artists dropping an unparalleled freestyle just days before an album release.
The move worked. Elliott’s NYFW show was a massive success, and the sneaker community is still reeling about the new Nike LeBron Icon colorway that predated the runway show on Instagram. A gold colorway styled with tonal socks and washed out military green tech pants, the nature in which the look is presented heightens the shoe substantially.
While only the white/grey colorway of the LeBron Icon was released at retail, James (and others) have been seen in black and white pairs. This preview is an indicator that 2019 has more Icon releases in store.
Although a timetable for those drops hasn’t yet been defined. Stay tuned for more.
