New York’s very own J. Crew teams up yet again with Boston-based brand, New Balance. These East-Coasters come together to create the J. Crew x New Balance 992, a sneaker designed to capture the multifaceted lifestyle of the Empire State. This collab comes just after J. Crew’s Fall release that featured six different New Balance 2002Rs.
This New Balance 992 is dressed with detail from heel to toe. The color palette used to create this sneaker takes inspiration from New York’s state flag, which can be seen on the orange and blue accents of the shoe. The upper is made with a mix of suede and mesh overlays in blue. The bottom half of the sneaker has an extended mudguard, that is dressed in a cowhide-like material. The rich earthy tone of the mudguards nods to New York’s cherished upstate terrains like the Adirondack Mountains. The laces are reminiscent of hiking-rope, further building on the outdoorsy theme. Finishing details include an orange New Balance “N” and SBS ABZORB midsoles.
The J. Crew x New Balance 992 is set to release on October 8, 2021. The retail price is set at $175. These sneakers will be available to purchase from J. Crew’s webstore and select retail locations.
