Kevin Durant?s fourth signature sneaker was one of the best of 2011-2012. Though it started slowly, momentum was quickly gained with the release of two colorways – the “Weatherman” and the “Nerf”. After revealing the Nike Zoom KD IV ?Nerf? in the summer of 2011, the shoe became possibly the most popular make up of the model. To the surprise of many, the release date of the anticipated shoe was announced via KD responding to a tweet from a fan. That started the frenzy. Not only did fans have a solid date to mark on calendars, but the shoe dropped one week after another favorite, the Nike Zoom KD IV ?Weatherman?. People began camping out for the ?Nerf? KD IV as early as the weekend prior to its Saturday, December 17, 2011 release. ?The shoe was inspired by Durant?s love of the Nerf Hoop as a child, and the coloring reflected that. The word ?Nerf? was written on one tongue in the customary Nerf font, and the shoe featured bright coloring in homage to Nerf toys. To take the tribute further, the shoe came in special packaging that included a Nerf basketball hoop and basketball.

Sneaker fans were envious as the entire University of Texas basketball team took the court on rocking the Nike Zoom KD IV ?Nerf? the day they were released. With quantities being so limited, and the demand being so high, were you able to get your hands on a pair? Did you camp out or have to buy them for an increased price? Are you still on the hunt for a pair? Let us know your story in the comments or on Twitter.
