2016 was the worst, right? Well to quote the great Dr. Evil, “How ’bout no?” Yes, we lost a lot of great artists, athletes and people, had social division in the country beyond measures and experienced (or at least heard about) negativity at what felt like an all-time high. But you know, it wasn’t all bad.
Stepping out of the negative and the sad, let’s take some time to focus on the positive and the happy, the fun and the joy, and all that pertaining to sneakers. Only making the highlights, here are some of the most heartwarming and feel good shoe stories of our 2016.

Let’s keep it real: teachers and professional athletes are both heroes to many. While the two professions are often pitted against each other, they came together when Hector Montez gave his hero of a teacher shoes tied to that teacher’s hero of an athlete. Once hearing about it, Nike jumped on and sent Hector shoes and a letter as a token of their appreciation and Champs even included him in an ad campaign. The awesomeness of Hector’s act spurred more to do the same.
If you’re reading this blog, odds are you’ve worn a Michael Jordan jersey or a pair of his shoes at some point to play basketball, mimicking his moves the best you could. But what about wearing his whole get-up head-to-toe for pickup? That’s exactly what Jeffrey Harrison aka CDA MJ does. Why? Because he suffers from autism and basketball is his drug — allowing him a way to focus and enjoy the things and people he loves. Hearing about this, Michael Jordan sent him a package of gear and even gave him a phone call. It really doesn’t get any better than that.
