It’s been a big year for Extra Butter as the NYC-based brand created some of the most memorable sneakers of 2021. Even with the year’s end in sight, the streetwear boutique keeps the momentum going with the Extra Butter x Saucony Originals “White Rabbit” Shadow 6000.
The concept for this sneaker was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” and exploring the idea of “down the rabbit hole.” The shoe comes packaged in a psychedelic box with an array of magic mushrooms. These mushrooms can also be seen on the corresponding capsule collection that includes a hoodie, t-shirt, sweatpants, and playing cards.
“In an age of information overload and technology influenced social behavior, we’re seeing a shift in questioning one’s purpose, identity and even how one can alter reality and truth around them.” says Bernie Gross of Extra Butter. “We’re seeing people utilize the web to dig deeper into knowledge, while others look to disconnect and explore within their subconscious for spiritual or psychedelic enlightenment. Though this shoe design is simple at first glance, there are nuances that elevate the design and speak to willingness to discover.”
This Shadow 6000 is made with premium leather, pig suede, and sport mesh with reflective underlays. The traditional Saucony Originals “running man” found on the tongue, opts for a custom white rabbit logo instead. The entire upper has a grayscale makeup with a white base, grey overlays, and hints of black. The Saucony “S” shape on the quarter has three dots in blue, white, and red. The heel tabs correspond with this detail as one sneaker has a red tab and the other has blue.
The Extra Butter x Saucony “White Rabbit” Shadow 6000 is available now, along with its matching capsule collection. The sneakers are priced at $130. All other global retailers will release the Shadow 6000 in limited quantities starting January 7, 2022.
